We are delighted to welcome you back to Lions Valley Lodge

We are all aware that we now need to be very conscious of health protocols with regards to the prevention of spreading Covid-19. We can confirm that all staff at Lions Valley Lodge have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

In order to conduct a paperless and contactless check-in and orientation at Nambiti Private Game Reserve and Lions Valley Lodge, documents such as Indemnity Forms and a Covid-19 Disease Declaration Waiver are sent to guests in advance. These need to be completed and returned via email to us 48 hours before the guest’s arrival.

These completed documents are necessary for the safety of all guests, Lions Valley Lodge staff and Nambiti Private Game Reserve staff.

Should a guest display any of the Covid-19 symptoms before departing from home, or should a guest have been in contact with somebody who has tested positive for Covid-19, fourteen (14) days before their arrival at Lions Valley Lodge, they are requested to please contact Lions Valley Lodge Reservations in order to postpone their visit.

  1. In accordance with Government regulations all guests are required to wear masks other than when seated for meals or drinks or when gathered in a small related group. On game drives it is mandatory to have a mask with you.
  2. Guests are requested to phone the lodge as they are going through Ladysmith so that their guide is on time to collect them from the Memorial Gate carpark. The lodge telephone number is 036 6379 605/6/7
  3. On arrival at the Memorial Gate, the guard on duty will screen every guest and record their temperature. This is in accordance with Nambiti Private Game Reserve protocol. Should any person in the vehicle present with a temperature above 37,5°C, the guests in that vehicle will be requested to wait at the gate, for the Lions Valley Lodge representative to come and retake their temperatures. Should temperatures be below 37,5°C, guests will be able to proceed to the carpark. Should this not be the case, no guests in the vehicle will be allowed into the Reserve. Lions Valley Lodge reserves the right to deny any guest admission should their temperature not meet the advised recommendations by the TBCSA (Tourism Business Council of South Africa), which is 37,5°C. These guests will then need to contact Lions Valley Lodge Reservations to discuss the postponement of their visit.
  4. All occupants of the vehicle are to please remain in their vehicle until advised by the Lions Valley Lodge guide that they may exit their vehicle. Before getting onto the game viewers guests will have to sanitise their hands. The guide will then advise all guests as to where they must sit in the game viewer.
  5. The public toilets at the Memorial Gate parking area are locked, but they can be opened by the guide if needed.
  6. On arrival at Lions Valley Lodge, guests will be screened again, and their temperature will be recorded. Temperatures will be taken every morning.
  7. Guests are to use the sanitiser stations available at all entrances and exits of the main lodge and are also required to sanitise their hands before getting onto the game viewers and golf carts.
  8. During orientation of the Main Lodge the guest’s luggage will be transferred to their suite.
  9. Guests will be escorted to their suites by a member of staff if their suite is in walking distance from the main lodge or alternatively, they will be taken to their suite on a golf cart.
  10. Should a guest staying at Lions Valley Lodge be feeling unwell or showing signs and symptoms of Coronavirus, they are to contact the Lodge Manager immediately. One staff member will be allocated to attend to this guest’s service needs.
  11. All staff employed at Lions Valley Lodge have been trained and will continue to be trained to follow the advised precautions and health and safety procedures, as set out by the Tourism Industry Standard Protocols for COVID-19 Operations issued by the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA). Some of these protocols are as follows:
  12. All suites are sanitised using an electric ULV Sprayer machine before the arrival of new guests.
  13. All frequently touched public area surfaces will be sanitised regularly throughout the day.
  14. Tables in dining areas [boma and dining room] will be placed comfortably apart. Guests will be allocated their own table which is to be used for all meals.
  15. Mini bars in the suites will only be stocked if a guest requests them to be. All drinks placed in the mini bars will be charged for.
  16. The library, boma, bar and pool areas are still available for use. Guests are asked to please be considerate and mindful of other guests who are not travelling in their group.
  17. Please ensure you have warm jackets with you as game drives can be very chilly.
  18. On game drives, we will no longer provide communal snack containers for guests to share, but rather individually packed snack bags.
  19. Guides will continue to serve guests their drinks, when on a drink stop.
  20. Whilst at Lions Valley Lodge, a basic housekeeping and turndown service will continue to be provided, unless the guest requests that this not be done. Should the guest prefer not to have any housekeeping staff in their suite throughout their stay they are to please make this known on their arrival at the lodge.
  21. On morning game drives, guides will continue to serve their guests coffee, tea or hot chocolate. A pre-packaged muffin or rusk will be available for guests to enjoy.
  22. Guests are to be aware of social distancing at all times, the recommended distance is a minimum of 1,5m apart.
  23. The Curio Shop at Lions Valley Lodge remains open.

Should these documents not be returned timeously, guests may unfortunately be denied access to Nambiti Private Game Reserve. These completed documents are necessary for the safety of all guests, Lions Valley Lodge staff and Nambiti Private Game Reserve staff.

Should a guest display any of the Covid-19 symptoms before departing from home, or should a guest have been in contact with somebody who has tested positive for Covid-19, twenty-one (21) days before their arrival at Lions Valley Lodge, they are requested to please contact Lions Valley Lodge Reservations in order to postpone their visit.

15. After luggage drop-off, guides will sanitise their game viewer and golf cart so as to be ready for the next arrivals or game drive.

16. Tables in dining areas [boma and dining room] will be placed comfortably apart. Guests will be allocated their own table which is to be used for all meals.

17. Mini bars in the suites will only be stocked if a guest requests them to be. All drinks placed in the mini bars will be charged for.

18. The library, boma, bar and pool areas are still available for use. Guests are asked to please be considerate and mindful of other guests who are not travelling in their group. Please note pool towels will no longer be available on the pool deck. These may be requested from reception.

19. Where possible game drives will be limited to 6 guests per vehicle when guests are not travelling as a family or group.

25. Our Coffee & Tea station will no longer be available for all-day use. Should guests wish to enjoy a hot beverage, kindly request this from a member of our service staff. For this reason, please enjoy a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate in your suite before the morning game drive.

26. Guests are to be aware of social distancing at all times, the recommended distance is a minimum of 1,5m apart.

27. The Curio Shop at Lions Valley Lodge remains open and is limited to 2 (two) guests in the shop at any given time. Trading hours are from 08h00 to 16h00.
